Ille sur Têt has its ‘orgues’
Called ‘orgues’ because of their ‘organ-pipe like’ shape due to erosion, these natural rock formations stand majestically high (up to approximately 12 meters) and are really impressive to observe. Made of clay and sand, these ‘orgues’ as they say, truly show the beauty of nature: they are unique and ephemeral.
Castelnou Hill
We enjoyed wandering and walking around Castelnou’s charming streets, while visiting some of its best local arts and crafts (paintings, jewels, modern art, etc). Each street offers a different view, sometimes on the roofs even, and I loved getting lost trying to pass by all streets at least once, especially considering we were not that many people…
Hiking around Tautavel
Although Tautavel is a small 870-inhabitant village mostly known for its famous Prehistory Museum, we didn’t visit this one and preferred enjoying the nature and the emblematic views the hike offers.
