Costa Rica has definitely been one of the countries I have visited where nature had the most prominent role. Between the hike I did on the Arenal volcano and a much more farniente stop in Montezuma, I stopped in Santa Elena and experienced the beauty of the hanging bridges that stand in the Monteverde Cloud Forest.
If I had to choose among the places I preferred visiting in Costa Rica, Monteverde Hanging Bridges would definitely be in the Top 3 of most amazing places to see! Now how to choose among the many adventure parks that now offer the same kind of activities including the so-called hanging bridges? Personally, I asked for help to the Hostel manager I stayed in. Their best recommendation in terms of distance from the main city but also sensations was the Selvatura Adventure Park and I have to say although I haven’t tried the other alternatives, this one is a good one! What’s more, this site’s also known for having the longest and strongest bridges in the Monteverde Cloud Forest.
Experiencing this trip alone is definitely one of the decisions I don’t regret. Although I wasn’t reassured at times during the hike (just me being my usual “headstrong but then cautious at times”), the feeling that you get when you realize you’ve gone halfway on a 170-meter long and 60-meter high hanging bridge and there is no one near you except for nature as far as the eye can see… that feeling is just bewildering!

Some specifics
The starting point for this activity usually is wherever you’d like as shuttle services are included in the prepaid ticket. I was picked up at my Hostel and when dropped off right across the entrance, two options are possible. The first option leads you to the full hanging bridges hike like I did, which I’d say is approximately 1,5 to 2 hours long depending on everyone’s pace. With the second option, which of course also comes with a higher price, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the park from above with numerous ziplines, sometimes crossing above the bridges.
